2009 started depressingly. All around, there was talk of the economic meltdown. Clearly, it is not going to be an easy year for freelance journalists specialising in contemporary development issues. But after a sluggish start, things are picking up: I won another international media award and am off to South Africa in July. This will be my first trip to the African continent and I am hugely excited. I am looking forward to more interesting journeys to unknown lands. My survival tips : a pair of good walking shoes, a decent camera, good books, music and will power. Throw in good coffee as a bonus!.
